Freeserve e-mail not arriving

Hi Guys

short question, Mrs Daveeb is not getting freeserve e-mails from a friend of hers, they were OK until around mid may and now they have stopped. Are they being blocked for some reason ?

Has she tried logging in to the webmail version? You can see all the folders there including the gmail based spam stuff. That woudld show if any are just being junked before delivery to your local email client.

Not yet Rob I intended to have a look tonight. I did a quick google and noticed that there was some historical reports from lasy year and earlier with instances of e-mail problems between orange (freeserve) and VM so i wondered if there was a known issue.

Strangely she can still send mail to the freeserve account which is received OK they just can't reply or send new messages to her VM account. In the meantime we have asked the friend to resend the messages to an old BT account of ours to see if it really is isp related. Anyhow thanks for the quick reply.

If she is using a Virginmedia email account then login to webmail and make sure that it has not dropped into the Spam filter.

it's an @ntlworld.com account and for some reason has recently stopped receiving regular (and important) e-mails from her friend on freeserve. I'll have a look this evening in the VM webmail spam folder, i guess that's the most likely scenario. thanks for the ideas.

Try www.mail2web.com

I still use it to see if anything interesting has turned up in my Lineone email account that I had 15 years ago!

Annoyingly i can't access her e-mail accounts on webmail. I get a page telling me the service is being "improved" and have to confirm a few basic details of her account. (i am the primary account holder). Having done this when i'm directed to click to go the MY virgin media to read mail etc etc the page starts loading but nothing appears....at all, i'm left with a blank screen. Grrrr

I still have an old FreeServe (now administered by Orange) dial-up account that I occasionally use on my laptop, and also collect mail from pop3.

Earlier, as a test, I sent an email from the FreeServe account to one of my @ntlworld.com addresses and it didn't arrive, I have checked VM/NTL Webmail and there it was in the Spam folder. So Masque was correct, and there does seem to be a problem with VM/NTL and FreeServe email!

Thanks very much for that Dave , half the problem solved. Now all i have to do is find a way to access the webmail account..it's playing silly b uggers at the moment

I gott past the password bit, i then got a new screen asking to confirm basic details seemingly succesfully, then clicking "go to my virgin media" i get zilch.

Retrying to get back into the accounts (she has two and this has happened with both) again through webmail results in just the timer going around but nothing happening.

Just to clarify, i go to MY VIRGIN MEDIA > sign in > user name and password > the screen flashes up the expected screen for a split second then i just have a blank screen. If i press the back button i get the required screen again for a split second then lose it.

Try http://mail.ntlworld.com/ and remember to put in the full email address that your wife uses and the password.
