Attachment Limits on e-mails
Is there still a limit on the size of attachment for e-mails?
This is a pain for my hubby who does a lot of amateur photography where people request copies of his pictures (aircraft etc). Having to send one e-mail per picture seems ridiculous in this day and age when you can upload several to the web in one batch with no problem. Some pictures are outside the e-mail limit as it is.
For various reasons he may not always put every shot on the web but others may be available on request so an e-mail is the simplest method.
So what is going on?

Re: Attachment Limits on e-mails
'Your message exceeded Virgin Media Mail's size limits.' Virgin Media Mail allows you to receive messages up to 20 MB in size; if the sender's message is larger that that, it cannot be accepted by Virgin Media's mail server

Re: Attachment Limits on e-mails
This One was just over 11 meg & would not send. He has a real antipathy to 3rd party solutions and is well miffed with this limit by Virgin.
Will try suggesting the yousendit - Thanks

Re: Attachment Limits on e-mails
The problem is that some senders would send that size of attachment to multiple recipients, which can cause issues.

Re: Attachment Limits on e-mails
Even if your email allows the size the person at the other end can have different limits.
Email was never intended as a means of sending large attachments. Over the years it has grown that way by accident and abuse rather than design. If you regularly need to allow transfer of bulky data then I'd suggest s ftp server solution to keep it all under your control.

Re: Attachment Limits on e-mails
Problem is nowadays is the quality of image has improved so larger files are more common. Yahoo allows this size, as do other e-mailers.
A friend frequently sends me images which never show up.

Photos tend not to compress too well, as there isn't much blank space.

Lock it down to a private account, use different albums for different clients and make sure they are random file names.
Or, use your free PWP from VM to upload them to
200Mb if you have a Virginmedia domain address ..

Re: Attachment Limits on e-mails
Still on this problem ( seemed better to bump) even compressed files smaller than the limit as per this quote wont send.
Quote:
|
The size of the message you are trying to send exceeds the global size limit (15728640 bytes (I think this = 15MB)) of the server. The message was not sent; reduce the message size and try again.will not send.
|
This was for a starting image of 11.7 MB.
