Because that's just the types of connection
allowed at the server side. What you need is the connection type you're actually
using in Outlook:

So you're using POP3.

Try using IMAP instead, and you should find that your folders (including Sent) synchronise across all instances (any devices connected to the server, the VMmail/GMail server itself etc).
Beware though that, depending on your settings in Outlook, POP3 may have downloaded the messages to your computer then
deleted them on the server. In other words, do NOT delete the POP3 account in Outlook until you've added the IMAP version and ensured the mails are still present server-side!
