Leaving Virgin
Hello,
When leaving Virgin, is it possible to keep email addresses?

Re: Leaving Virgin
Nope, your VM email address (or ntlworld / blueyonder) are tied to your account and will die with it.

How long after do they die? Is it possible to setup a forwarder on the account?

I was under the impression they are removed at the same time as your account is closed

Re: Leaving Virgin
The account should be disabled on the day you close the account and it will be terminated after 3 months and not more than 12 months.

Re: Leaving Virgin
To be honest the whole email process is up in the air at the moment with the migration. When a disconnect is completed on an account it tells the email platform to disable the account as posted above, but I wouldn't rely on the 90 day rule, as scripts are run to clean accounts all the time.
Its also not possible to setup a forward as when the account is disabled it removes the email routing, so any emails sent to that address will bounce.

We usually have enough time to implement a Move and Transfer if the customer is only moving to another Virginmedia enabled property.
We still have customers with working email addresses long after they moved but it is quite rare.

Sometimes we enable accounts to allow customers access to important emails, but this is a good will gesture.
Also if the account is not closed correctly the provisioning platform doesn't update.

I have had that done before but it is only to retrieve emails stored on the system as any sent since being disabled will have been bounced back to the sender, and the is a likelihood that they will have been deleted already especially on the new platform.

Which is why some accounts seem to stay enabled forever.

And your PM info is the exact reason these issues occur.
