Intermittent e mail problems
Sending mail is OK but I am getting a regular error message as follows:
Task 'e mail account name' - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
I've tried disabling my Firewall/AV but no change; I have five ntl e mail addresses and different accounts give the message at different times, sometimes none, sometimes a few, very rarely all. I have tried increasing the server time out, no difference and my non ntl e mail addresses (diferent isp, same b/b link) work fine.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any idea what may be causing it?
Peter

Re: Intermittent e mail problems
Been intemitently having the same problem for a few days now but seems a lot worse today. I have 4 ntlworld accounts and different ones fail at different times. Also have Tiscali & Gmail accounts and they've been fine. Have also switched off AV email scanner and problem still exists. So I would guess there must be a problem at Virgin's end.
Cheers, Tim

Re: Intermittent e mail problems
Have posted elsewhere about my blueyonder email address retrievals being "unexpectedly terminated" by server.
VM service status page now showing email as a logged problem with fix estimate of 9AM, 5 Jan.

Problems accessing ntlworld accounts here too - using local Outlook client.
Similar error to the one reported above.
Webmail seems fine if a little slow.

Not me Guv!
Very rarely report anything due to the off putting, script reading, help department which I feel is a complete waste of time; they take absolutely no notice of your expertise.
What is really annoying is that you have tried all the obvious such as connecting a PC direct to the router but they insist you do it again.
When loads of people are experiencing the same issue, they ignore your comments.

I do not read from a script as I have the ability to think for myself, so please do not tar us with the same brush as the people you are thinking about.

Re: Intermittent e mail problems
Apologies Masque, no intention to tar anyone in the UK with any sort of brush, it's a treat to speak to a UK person but rarely happens.

Problem is mate, if you rely on other people to report faults, it becomes a long wait, everyone does the same thing and issues such as this go on and on ..
If you don't like calling you can always post in the VM forums, were the 2nd line guys offer support.
