Primary email address
Before the move to google's mail server, one ntlworld email account was the master account and you then set up however many additional accounts (I think 15 was the limit) you wanted from that master account. The sub accounts could easily be changed, but the primary was virtually impossible to alter being linked to so many other things in your profile.
Is there still a primary account? If there is how can I tell which of 5 possible addresses it is?
If all my email addresses are now equal in the eyes of Virgin Media it might allow me to do some rationalisation with a bit of judicious forwarding and other links.

Re: Primary email address
No you still have a Primary email address which will always be the first @ntlworld.com account that you setup.
You can tell which is the Primary as it will be the only email address that when you go to MyVirginmedia you can view or delete the other addresses, if you log into a Secondary Account you will only see that alias.
You can never delete the Primary alias either.
Also you are only allowed a maximum of 10 email addresses unlike the old system which allowed up to 15.

Re: Primary email address
So the next question would be whether I can change any of my @ntlworld addresses to @virginmedia.com. I see I can't set up new email accounts with a "username"@ virginmedia if I already have a username @ntlworld allocated. A VM web link I found indicates that will happen, but any ideas of when or is it still "coming soon"?

Re: Primary email address
No date set as yet, I can't see it being long now though, as the migration project is closing down.

As I said above the Primary email alias will always be for instance rob@ntlworld.com and the are no plans to allow this to change.
So if for instance you wanted to add the email address of rob@virginmedia.com it would not be possible because of the existence of rob@ntlworld.com.
If you have a secondary address of say rob1@ntlworld.com you can delete this address and in 90 days time you can then have the address of rob1@virginmedia.com.

The plan is to allow customers the chance to change their Primary alias in the future and allow them to sign up for the @VM version. Obviously this would be set on a first come first served bases, as there could be 3 people across the platforms with rob@ in their email ..

That was the original plan but everyone else now says the Primary email address will not change and that includes Dan Bayliss who posts on here in his own name who is the the guy in charge of the Migration, I have asked him this specific question and the above that I have posted is from him in this thread post number 10.

Re: Primary email address
Dan's the PM on the migration ? I didn't know that .. but I would question him again about that, as it fits in with customers being able to delete their PWP and create an @VM one off the primary.. it would need to be an @VM address ..
I'm not saying this is the case, but its my understanding of it ..

I asked him specifically in that thread as we get asked quite often and that was the answer given by him and 2nd line also agree, but I would check it out directly if you know him at all as it would be good confirmed one way or the other.

I'll wait for everyone to get back to work this week and find out what's happening .. to be honest I've not worked on the migration myself, just a bit of the fall out .. so its possible things have changed ..

That is from July so may have changed but everyone appears adamant that is the way it is going, but it would not be the first time things have changed.

I have had a PM from Dan and he confirmed once again that the Primary email address will not be given the facility of changing it.
