Bizarre issue - responding to email & it gets sent to someone different?
Hey all
Got a weird problem, very weird problem.
My dad sent me an email yesterday, and I responded to it, and I spoke to him on the phone and he said that he never saw my reply. So I checked my Sent Items, and it shows it's gone to a completely different email address, and person. All I did was hit the reply button, it showed his email address in the "To:" field, and I typed my reply and clicked send....
I logged in Remotely to my Dad's PC, and looked at my email address in his contacts, and its showing correctly. I also checked his Mail settings in Outlook 2007 and his from address is correct.
I also did a virus/spyware scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and with his NOD32 AV Software, nothing found.
Any idea what on earth is going on?
Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the REPLY TO settings in his outlook account?
That will automatically replace the email addy when you hit reply.. Other than that check his SMTP settings to make sure that they haven't been messed with and it's not going through a rougue server which could very easily replace the X-from line

I'm assuming that you have one of Virgin Media's domain accounts? Such as ntlworld.com or blueyonder.co.uk.
In addition to checking your account settings in Outllok, log into your account via web mail which you can do from www.virginmedia.com.
Go to Settings, then click on the "Forwarding POP/IMAP", and check to see if there is a forwarding address in there and perhaps a rule. If there is, delete the address and the rule and save settings, then, change your email account password.
While your in web mail, also check the filters tab too, there are limited forwarding options in there also.

Re: Bizarre issue - responding to email & it gets sent to someone different?
Sorry for the delayed response.
My dad is on Sky broadband, and the issue is with his Sky email through Outlook 2007.
The weird thing is, it doesn't always happen on his emails, its sporadic!
I've checked his account settings and there is nothing in the "Reply To" box. I have also checked his SMTP settings and they are as they should be. Will check his Webmail now to see if something is amiss.
Any other suggestions?
Cheers.
