Unhappy Webspace - Permission Denied?

I've just gone to update some pages on my webspace and I'm getting 'permission denied'. I know I'm near my 500mb quota (don't get me started on that issue with ntl/vm) but this was just updating text and adding a small text page, so it shouldn't have been a problem. When it was quota, I got 'exceeded quota'. This time I'm just getting permission denied.

I changed my passwords recently, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. It's signing me in, but it just won't let me upload anything. I just get a flat 550 Permission denied.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

550 error is quite common, but needs Virgin Media techs to fix.

You can either call them, or better still raise in the Virgin Media Forums

Takes a few days to be picked up, then about a week to resolve, normally.

Re: Webspace - Permission Denied??

Ok, thanks for the info. I will look into getting in touch with them. I basically gave up that night and got myself a new web host as I was almost over my limit anyway. It would be nice though to still have the ntl space if I can get it working as a backup host for something else though.

Thank you

If you login to 'My VirginMedia', select Webspace and assign a new Virginmedia.com address you get 200MB rather than the 55MB from NTL.

NB: It creates a new URL www.mynewwebsite.webspace.virginmedia.com
and it deletes everything under your old webspace. You probably have a copy anyhow, just in case anyone reading this who doesn't have a copy, decides to upgrade, then has lost everything

Re: Webspace - Permission Denied?

UPDATE:

Okay I just have to give a positive (so far) update on this. I didn't bother to get round to contacting VM about this until last night. I sent a contact form through the website about 9:45pm. As I've already moved the website to another server it wasn't a huge rush, but I decided last night that I would like to at least put a placer on that site to direct people to the right place if they end up there by mistake (or by google).

I figured it would be at least a week till I heard from them. I did get the usual auto-reply stating 5-7 working days. At 9:05 this morning (less than 12 hours after the contact form was sent) I have a reply and it's been escalated to 2nd line to sort the permissions with a hope to have it sorted by tomorrow if possible (though it may take a bit longer).

I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I honestly expected that using the contact form would mean at least a week till I heard back - if ever.

That's 2 issues I've had sorted this week in a VERY timely manner.

Things may be looking up.
