OUTLOOK 2003 not receiving emails

Virgin Media who have just moved their emails into the Google platform. Today I have found that none of my emails are coming in to my Outlook inbox. I can create and send emails OK but not receive. I can however access my emails via the Virgin Media email link through my web browser. A long discussion with a VM techy resulted in them suggesting thatthere is a problem with my Outlook and I should direct my query to Microsoft. I am not convinced. I have checked and rechecked my email settings and adjusted the POP3 port numbers(995 & 110) and also the SMTP port numbers (465 & 25) as advised but still without success. I have changed the incoming mail from pop3.ntlworld.com to just pop.ntlworld.com but still no success. If my trustee ol 2003 version has finally got too old then I am happy to uprade to Office 2010 but I am looking for a bit of guidance before I do so. I am not a techy so please be gentle with me as I may not understand some of the jargon - Roger

I am running outlook 2004?? and it seems to be working ok with my ntl account

Do you get any error messages when you send receive, when you tried the 995 and 465 ports did you tick for it to us SSL?

No i did not get any error messages, but the latest development is that OUTLOOK is now receiving all of my old emails going back to May of this year. There are hundreds of them. As I write this I am still receiving emails going back to June so presumably it will eventually catch up and download the more current ones. I can only hope

Well, after all that and after receiving all of my old emails again going back to May 2010 I have finally got to a situation where new and current emails are arriving. And would you believe it, in amongst those emails was one from the VIRGIN MEDIA TEAM at 10.52 this morning saying :-
Hello and welcome to your new and improved Virgin Media Mail!

so after all that mucking about it was a VM situation after all which is what I suspected all along despite the VM man out in India telling me otherwise.The moral is don't always accept the information these Indian advisors offer or the advise from their supervisors either..!!

Fingers crossed all is no reolved - watch this space.

If you are getting all your old emails you are probably using IMAP, once it has received them the first time and setup your folders it won't have to do it again.
