Any way to change the primary email address?

I hadn't used my mail @ntlworld.com email address for ages and it appears to have been deleted and my brother's address has been set as the primary address for our account. I have now set up a new email address on the system but I can't see any way to set it as the primary email address for our account. This means, among other things, that my brother's details are the defaults for logging into "My Virgin Media" and other services.

Can any VM staff help at all please?

Your brothers email address will have always been the Primary account as it is not possible to delete a Primary account only Secondary accounts.

Trust me on this, his email address was not the primary account. The primary account was set up years ago when NTL's internet access was via dialup. My brother's email address was only created a few years ago.

My email address was a bit of an odd situation though, as due to a hiccup on NTL's system my original address (lwernham at ntlworld dot com), which was at the time not only the primary address but the only one, was deleted, leaving me with no email address at all and no way to log into our account. After struggling with some very unhelpful tech support staff I managed to get NTL to create a new email address, although the system wouldn't let the tech recreate my original address so I ended up with lewis dot wernham at ntlworld dot com which again was the primary account (although funnily enough my webspace was still homepage.ntlworld.com/lwernham).

I would advise you to first remove your email address above.

Tomorrow ring technical support as that is the only way that it can be resolved as it maybe what is known as an orphaned email address and will need to be raised to IT.

Ah. I was trying to avoid having to try to explain this one to the first line tech support people as it's an awkward one. When I had the original problem with the lwernham address going bye-bye they eventually refused to help me as I "we don't support UNIX systems" (this was when Mac OS X first came out), despite the fact that the problem was on NTL's servers, not my machine so my OS had no bearing on the problem. I had to go into NTL's reception in Hook and demand to speak to customer services before I could get a call from a level 2 tech who fixed the problem.

You will need to call after 0800 tomorrow to see if it can be retrieved but if the is a primary email address already in place it will probably stay that way even if your address is retrievable.
