email service erratic this evening 20/07/2010

Email was working fine until around 20:30 this evening, then nothing on my ntlworld pop or imap account synced accounts in Outlook 2010.

Try the VM webmail and was informed that my primary account was not recognised, but email self care page quite happily knows about the account.

Just tried again and can now log into VM webmail with primary account. pop accounts now working with Outlook 2010, but still nothing on imap accounts.

No settings changed on PC at all.

Anyone else have strange problems started this evening?

Any ideas about imap service having problems at the moment?

I too am having problems, it doesnt recognise my ntlworld email addresses when I try to login to the webmail, not very good is it!

I have the problem with my @ntlworld.com email addresses.
The error I get from Windows Live Mail says:

Server Response: -ERR Invalid Backend.

And today is the next time - reports elsewhere too.

I can't say that the email service was faultless before the Google migration, but I can say that it's proving to be far less reliable now and when it does go it seems to be out for longer.

I don't think I ever had this much trouble before the Google thing happened. It's pretty poor I must say.

Every time my Outlook attempts to retrieve email, it asks for a password (which is already filled in!! Even if I tick the box to enable the program to remember the password, it comes up again!!

Still getting problems with "ERR- Invalid Backend" on a migrated ntlworld.com account here.

Changing from pop.ntlworld.com to pop3.ntlworld.com has not helped either.

VirginMedia have set their email service status to "Serious error" and have said that they are working on fixing it. But it is extremely annoying!

I get the same issue and have been for about a week or so. If i keep retrying it often eventually works. Annoying yes and along with my other VM issues not really good enough.

I get various issues still. The weirdest is that I cannot send messages to groups of people through VM network to another email address that I have yet my colleage in Solihull going through his VM to the same email can send? Yet I haven't altered anything here?
