This "All Mail" Folder...
I must admit I am finding one aspect of the new mail system annoying...the All Mail folder.
I understand the concept...all your messages from all your folders (excluding the Bin and Spam ones) are in the same place. Fair enough.
So why is that messages I have removed from my Inbox, Sent Mail etc. and then subsequently deleted from the BIN folder still appearing in All Mail?
Surely I don't have to go through that folder and delete the necessary? I am guessing that would shove everything back in the BIN folder to be deleted AGAIN?
I can't be the only one who things this is touch ridiculous?

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
I just logged into my webmail account and deleted everything and when I click on all mail it shows as being empty and I even have this message in there "You don't have any mail! Our servers are feeling unloved"
So I have no idea what you are doing differently.

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
I don't understand it either.
I deleted everything using Apple Mail (IMAP).
I only deleted my BIN for the first time in about a week and bit today so the things in all mail date back to about then. So things do disappear eventually.
Wonder if for some reason it just takes a while for my account to 'sync'?

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
The ALL MAIL folder is actually just a label, got Settings >> Labels and HIDE for ALL MAIL
That's assuming the VM side has the same control as the standard google mail apps

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
This is what I thought Kymmy.
However my mailbox size seems to suggest the e-mails are still there...somewhere!

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
I would advise calling Technical Support but leave it until Monday after 0800 and they will check the mailbox for you.

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
Just been thinking about it...
I was until this evening using POP on my Nokia E72 but found that for some stupid reason it wasn't picking up all my new messages. But it would appear the messages that won't delete are ones that my phone actually managed to download over the last week or so.
I have moved that across to IMAP this evening, along with my Apple Mail.
I'll have a look tomorrow and see if some of the later ones are deleting eventually. If not I'll give technical support a call. Any particular reason after 8am?

Depends if you want to speak to a UK agent or not.

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
Just realised there was nothing I wanted to save in there so I have just deleted everything from the All Mail folder. It shoved it all in the Bin and I then deleted it permanently.
We'll see what happens now. If it doesn't start playing ball I'll give them a call
Thanks for the advice guys!

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
Theory proved correct this morning...anything I delete from my E72 is still there somewhere hidden. I wonder if it's a settings issue with my phone. I'll have to delve a bit deeper...

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
Are you POP or IMAP? imap will litterally merge the offline and online folders where as pop you can set to keep or delete the online content and never the twain shall meet again

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
Using IMAP. Found POP unreliable on my phone as it was only picking up certain messages for some reason...the jokes of Nokia Messaging lol!
I have a feeling it could be folders that I have set to sync causing the problems. I'll have a play around this morning at some point.

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
I know for sure that when you "archive" mail, it goes to All Mail so that your inbox can be clean yet retaining the archived messages

Re: This "All Mail" Folder...
When you use IMAP the Inbox is effectively a label. The mail is actually in the all mail folder. Which is why deleting from the inbox in your client doesn't delete it from the all mail folder. It just removes the inbox label. That's the way it's designed to behave using IMAP.
You have to drag from the inbox to the bin in your client to mark it for deletion (in 30 days unless you purge the bin before that).
