Yeaah, thatnks for that suggestion xocemp, I havent quite reached breakoff point yet.

I can.t help feeling that it's some subtle setting I'm missing.

If all else fails I'll try downloading an alternative probably Thundernird or summat..I'm a bit wary of adding more programs coz this puter is bursting at the seams with them...there's even some I havent yet got round to installing yet..lol

Re: outlook 2007 e-mail account

Just an update on my probs.

I finally got a co-operative support lady on the fone who, after walking me thru the creating an account in OE, took the initiative when it did'nt work.
She tried accessing my mailbox via her computer and that didnt work either.
So, after being left on hold for 20 mins of fabulous music. She decided that second tier techs were not going to answer the fone and said I would hear back from second tier techs within four days....am I bening fobbed off or are they really going to fone me to tell me the problem is sorted?

I wait in anticipation with huge exoectations...

Re: outlook 2007 e-mail account

I'm pleased to update ya'all.
I fimally sorted my problem by posting on the virgin email newsgroup and an engineer foned me back within two days and told me it had been fixed, I opened outlook while he was on the fone and used the new password he gave me...It worked straight off...thankyou Mr Techdude..I knew it wasnt me and its fixed at last..

Thanks to all the contributers who posted in this thread and gave me the idea to contact techs via the newsgroups..I can vouch for its effectiveness and highly recommend it.

Glad to hear that persistence paid off..though it is annoying that it took so long to be fixed..but at least you are sorted now.

I would have been interested to know if your webmail inbox was accessible during this time..because that might have indicated that the problem lay with their servers..

I was able to sign in to selfcare usuing the original password and username Virgin/ntl had given me. and I could change the password and create extra mailboxes.
However, the virgin webmail server refused any attempt to sign in with any of the passwords..during one of my telephone calls to technical help desk the operater tried to access my account from her computer and failed. She couldnt even make a password change stick so from then on I knew it was a server problem and not my software or details in outlook. The problem was raised on a ticket and she promised a tech would fone and help me fix it. when the call never came I decided to contact the techs on the newsgroup, they answered within hours and the problem was fixed within days of my first post on the newsgroup...thing is, there were quite a few other posters on the newsgroup with the same problem.

Thanks again for the help..

Re: outlook 2007 e-mail account

April 2007 ... wishing I had found the above 48 hours ago .... I have same problem and need to access the OUTLOOK for part of my ECDL course .... I managed to fix the Outlook Express myself ... but as this is an international course supporting computer use so you would think Virgin were bright enough to support their users improving their skills .... I also find their email totally unreliable as they take it down so often you lose all your site registration details, etc ... pity its a bank holiday or I could by pass Virigin and go to a public library to work which says it all !!
