Can I Keep My E-Mail Address?

I was wondering is there any way that I could keep the email address I have with virgin media if I were to leave?

Re: Can I Keep My E-Mail Address?

Very few ISPs allow you to keep an email address after you've left. But that's the same as if you moved house for real, you can't keep popping back to the old one to check your post.

If you do have concerns, get yourself a hotmail, gmail, yahoo or whatever non ISP based account. Just notify everyone of your change and get them to update their records.

No as when you close the account the email ceases to exist as it is part of your package.

If you want a permanent email address then go for Gmail or similar.

Why, set up a new Gmail/Hotmail address, inform your contacts, then leave.

or buy a domain for a few quid.

dj_price.co.uk or something that works for you. That way you can have the domain parked with someone like 1and1 and they'll give you a mailbox.

That's yours forever although you can forward the mail to your current ISPs mailbox if you wish.

Re: Can I Keep My E-Mail Address?

Main reason is because I would have to spend many hours going through all the websites use to change the email address & also I use my ntl address for my msn address. I'll will phone up once I've spoken with my dad & see what he wants to do, as he is now retired, he wants to be paying less for the internet. I will phone up virgin & see what, if any deal they can offer as we've been with ntl for about 6-7 years now & all the many other cheap providers, hopefully they will offer something decent.

What used to work was to have the email addy associated with a 'pay as you go' dial-up account, which you then didn't use, however I'm not sure if that is still an option???
