Is my website being blocked?

Hi,

Am having intermittent trouble accessing my website www.scfnw.org.uk
via my Virgin Broadband account.

After contacting my hosting provider they confirmed there were no problems and suggested it was a fault at my ISP end (Virgin Media)

I did email an associate to ask if they could access the site at that time and they could so I presume it must be Virgin's fault

The IP address of my site is

80.82.140.240
I have checked and I am not using a proxy (to the best of my knowledge)

Before I start spending my money trying to talk to Tech Support I thought I would try a post on this forum in case there may be something else I am missing.

I think that shows that the UDP/ICMP ECHO packets that tracert uses are being filtered by firewalls along the way. Only the final destination (your website) responds.

If I use tcptraceroute in Linux which uses TCP packets instead, I get a route through & it confirms your site is open.

can you hit any other website?
clear your cache/history and that lot?
tried another browser just incase its a browser issue?
changed to another proxy, if using one?

have you updated your host file? C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\host (open with notepad)
if this has 127.0.0.1 and the website put a # in front of that line then save

it could be your ip is blocked from that site, from the sites side, not your ISP

can you go to this site?

Sorry don't know anyone on virgin in my local area.

Sorry, yes I can also raise the site you linked to but as I said before at the moment I can also reach my website.

Its very strange but tomorrow morning, if true to form, I won't be able to reach my site or this site .

the site is working fine for me.

is it just that one site? or is it all sites that are hosted under the same host provider?

you dont have any nanny software that is timed?
you dont have your router to stop traffic to certain sites which is timed?

other than that, the only thing I can suggest is that the main host server is unaccessible.

Thanks for your help but the last time it went down for me it actually worked for a colleague that I emailed to check.

.....and my web site host provider confirmed everything was AOK with them
