Help, My NTL e-mail account is driving me crazy.

Can someone help me please, as my NTL e-mail account is driving me crazy.

I have had an NTL account for years, and the only thing I have done recently is change over to a new computer in February this year. All was well and I have sent and received the odd e-mail since then but when I tried to use it to-day the thing has gone potty.

All my virgin newsgroups are still working, and the account is happy to transfer incoming e-mails to my Google account but when I try to send an email I am being told that I do not have any accounts configured for sending e-mails (see screen shots below)

I have been on the Virgin site and using that access point I can both send and receive NTL mail to my other 2 mail servers.

Can anyone see what I am doing wrong or have any suggestions? Do I need to fill in the server names…see screen shot….and if so what do I put?

I totally sympathise, my NTL e-mail account has never worked reliably for me, about 50% of e-mails don't make it or arrive incomplete. In the end I switched to Hotmail which has been great.

Re: Help, My NTL e-mail account is driving me crazy.

I thought I would warn you all about Virgin/NTL broadband service, at the end of March Virgin are switching over their databases over a 6 day period, which may cause problems with the connection, worse will be total loss. Also there might be issues with the email service, loss of email accounts which they won't be able to restore. If all go well, they don't lose everything they will do it again after 2 weeks. Just thought i would warn you all and hope nothing to important happens to your accounts.

Will affect customers in Glasgow, Surrey & Hants, Kirklees, Herts & Beds, Wales & west and Northern Ireland. - Of whom will have their accounts frozen over the stated period of time. This includes changes to broadband speeds / digital tv services / phone packages / SUSPENDED SERVICES (i.e. no account transaction will go through during the period of time, if you pay your bill on 31st of march, services will not be restored until 6th of april, assuming your services are suspended)

You can still call up and pay your bill, direct debit will come out as usual. However payments will not come off or show on your account until the 6th of april.

Other customers affected - Other customers affected include all those in ex-ntl franchises, no-one will be able to change broadband speed / package during the migration period. Customers recieving a seperate bill for broadband will not be able to make payments to their broadband account during the period, nor will they be able to change broadband speed.

If your broadband is disconnected during the freeze time period, i would recommend you wait until the 6th/7th before contacting customer care / technical support, as i doubt anything will be able to be done during this time.

heres hoping it all goes smoothly

NB: Anyone in ex-telewest areas are not affected whatsoever.

You are an absolute gem. Don't know why it went pear shaped but now you've got me working again I don't care.

I commiserate with you frogstamper. It has been really frustrating not having a fully working account and not being able to work out what to do. I have spent ages to-day googling for a solution, I knew I should ask the forum members but I was sure I was missing something really obvious and would look silly.

Thanks for the link whydoIneedatech. I had noticed the tread earlier but thought that with some of the e-mail account functions working it wasn't relevant to my problems. Cheers for replying to my plea for help.

Thanks again guys....
