Re: Cannot get connected to Email
I thought I would warn you all about Virgin/NTL broadband service, at the end of March Virgin are switching over their databases over a 6 day period, which may cause problems with the connection, worse will be total loss. Also there might be issues with the email service, loss of email accounts which they won't be able to restore. If all go well, they don't lose everything they will do it again after 2 weeks. Just thought i would warn you all and hope nothing to important happens to your accounts.
Will affect customers in Glasgow, Surrey & Hants, Kirklees, Herts & Beds, Wales & west and Northern Ireland. - Of whom will have their accounts frozen over the stated period of time. This includes changes to broadband speeds / digital tv services / phone packages / SUSPENDED SERVICES (i.e. no account transaction will go through during the period of time, if you pay your bill on 31st of march, services will not be restored until 6th of april, assuming your services are suspended)
You can still call up and pay your bill, direct debit will come out as usual. However payments will not come off or show on your account until the 6th of april.
Other customers affected - Other customers affected include all those in ex-ntl franchises, no-one will be able to change broadband speed / package during the migration period. Customers recieving a seperate bill for broadband will not be able to make payments to their broadband account during the period, nor will they be able to change broadband speed.
If your broadband is disconnected during the freeze time period, i would recommend you wait until the 6th/7th before contacting customer care / technical support, as i doubt anything will be able to be done during this time.
heres hoping it all goes smoothly
NB: Anyone in ex-telewest areas are not affected whatsoever.

Re: Cannot get connected to Email
I lost my connection on Monday 6th May, just before noon. We got in touch with Virgin Media the next day as the connection had not been restored and they fixed that. However, I have been unable to use my NTL email account since then. I have been promised a fix 'within 72 hours'...which did not happen. I've promised another fix 'within 24 hours', and this did not happen. I have been on the phone again today and the helpdesk rep offered to kindly delete my email address as I had a new temporary one.
Why doesn't the call centre know how to fix it? Why aren't they aware that servers/billing systems have been meddled with in the UK and that people are having issues?
Anyone else in the same boat?
How can I get this resolved?
It would be nice to talk to someone who's been involved with the billing upgrade!

smoothly and virgin in the same sentence is not something that usually happens.

Re: Cannot get connected to Email
Last night I was promised a call back from a helpful supervisor. She called back but could resolve the issue, and promised to call back again. She didn't.
Today I had a brainwave...
I called the broadband help number and quoted the old broadband account number, and the new consolidated number to the guy at the call centre.
I don't know if this extra info helped, or if the guy knew what he was doing...but he fixed the problem! 450 emails downloaded to my Outlook folder and I'm back in business.
Hope this helps other people in a similar position!

Through your explanation of what had happened the Tech realised that your 2 accounts required a move and transfer to the one account which he did, and now you have a working email account once again.

Re: Cannot get connected to Email
I'm getting really sick of virgin mail servers now. It's every weekend now for the past month it's becoming intermittent. What is going on?
