Can 'Modem' Be Turned Off At Night
I've now got a switchable extension socket ... so my next question is ...
Can the modem (if its still called a modem? ) be turned off at night ?

No reason why you can't turn it off.

Re: Can 'Modem' Be Turned Off At Night
Most people still call it a Modem by the way, however, it isn't technically a Modulator/Demodulator, rather, basically a network bridge, more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cable_modem hth

Thanks - its good to know.
My computer works its socks off through the day, generally, but I do turn it off at night.

Re: Can 'Modem' Be Turned Off At Night
It is absolutely fine to turn it off.
The only thing you've got to do when you switch it on again is give it a minute to do its self check when it powers on and connects to the network, and then boot your PC.
