many emails not coming in or late

I'm blueyonder and many emails have not come in or very delayed.
I am an Australian forum moderator and no email notifications have been received from Oz in the last 24hours.

Any problems knocking around?

Cannot contact my virus help line (bullguard) wont accept my login or respond to request to send login details back via email.

Re: many emails not coming in or late

when I telephoned virgin helpline 35 p per minute they eventually told me there was a 5 hour backlog.
BTW was told there would not be the 35p per minute charge for the call.

Re: many emails not coming in or late

I got 38 emails in this morning (upto 24 hours late) at 05.01

Plus a letter from virgin support as follows.

E-mail blocked from 3rd Party
From what we talked about, it sounds like these emails have been prevented as we thought they were ‘spam’ – or unsolicited emails. We’re sorry if this has caused you any problems, but please allow us to explain why it might have happened.

You’ll want to know you’re safe and protected online. And you’ll want to know that your email addresses won’t be full up with junk messages every time you check them. We want this too, so that’s why we’ve got a dedicated team working to protect you from spam emails.

There are many organisations that monitor and collect information about spam emails and who’s sending them. They gather all this information together and pass on to companies who provide email services – and we’re one of the companies they work with.
We use this information to filter out potential spam emails sent to Virgin Media customers, by blocking emails from the names on the list.

Occasionally, the companies who provide the information to us might have included a legitimate company on their list by mistake. This is likely to be because one of their email addresses was used to send unsolicited mail by mistake.

When this happens, the only way their name can be removed from the list is to contact the company who compiles the list. They’ll normally be happy to remove the name straight away, as long as they’re happy that spam emails won’t be sent again.

It’s not unusual for an email provider not to know they’ve been added to one of these lists – and from the information you gave me earlier, it is likely that this is the case with the emails you’ve not received.

We’d like to reassure you that we do all we can to work with the list providers to make sure we don’t block legitimate emails. We’ll make sure we work with them to tell them about cases like yours to prevent the problems you’re having. They’ve been keen to work with us recently, so this kind of issue is normally resolved really quickly.
