smtp problems

ok it's officially getting annoying now, i cant send any email from my ntl account, the smtp details are all correct and i can recieve email fine but keep getting this error when i try to send mail in thunderbird:

An error occoured sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting:
aamtaout02-winn.ispmail.ntlworld.com connection refused [89.241.xx.xxx]

any help on how to get this fixed would be great

First off I hope thats not your IP address, if it is I would mask it.

make sure outgoing server name is smtp.ntlworld.com and is on port 25, make sure username and password is clicked and set secure connection to no

thanks for the swift reply, it's not my ip addy so thats ok...

thats the settings I have and it still doesnt want to work!

any other suggestions? I've tried everything I can think of...

I presume you are using the computer at home, because from anywhere else you can receive but not send?

You don't have any firewall software installed that is blocking port 25?

Can you try and send to another email address
