webspace, can I get more?
I'm finding the 55MB a bit low for what I use it for and was wondering if there was a way of purchasing more from Virgin Media? If not, where is the best place to get some online space, it won't be for web design or anything like that, just pure webspace for sharing files with friends. I figure around 200mb is what I'm looking for.
cheers

You can't purchase it from VM, although some people are saying they are allowed to go over their quota. That's fine until VM notice and delete the extra.
However, hosting is very cheap nowadays. For a few quid a year you can purchase well more than 200 meg. Have a google.

Isn't that called a loan? Pay a bit each year and get a lump sum now?

Hosting these days is cheap as chips.
Im with GD and must say I only pay $14.99 for 200GIGs of Webspace and 2TB of Bandwidth.

Its monthly, with GoDaddy
They have smaller plans too, down to $3/month.

Re: webspace, can I get more?
I've just managed to upload 130mb to my virgin webspace, whats that all about? Have they unofficially increased the allotted space? I'm gonna upload some more to see how much it will allow!!

Re: webspace, can I get more?
Interesting... lots of people keep reporting that they can upload more than 55Mb to their webspace, maybe I should give it a try... then I might not even have to buy a host.

As already stated... They seemed to inplememented the quotas wrong or haven't implemented it at all.
No reason why you can't use it and play dumb... However, I wouldn;t rely on it. Be prepared for them to notice at any time and suspend your website, until you go back down to 55mb or just delete everything for you.
Also, with sharing files, make sure you can prove you have the right to share the file.

Re: webspace, can I get more?
Yep..... until VM figure out someone has stuffed up the disk quotas and then deletes all contents above the level set in the advertising
And let's face it, uploading shed loads of files onto your space is a quick and easy way to bring it to their attention
