setting up another E mail account/address
Using NTL dial up i have emailed successfully for 2 years. However we have been unable to set up an additional E mail address for my husband. He now needs one all the time and has to use mine, having to first explain in each message that he isnt me!! Most irritating for him. We follow all the instructions and the message says "New E mail created successfully" or words to that effect. He can then send an e mail to me, no problem. However if i try to send one to his new address we get as follows........ ERROR 0x800ccc79 Error invalid recipient
No server error Port 25 secure. I assume this means that the new E mail address is not being recognised. Can any one help please as its now driving us insane. Some months ago we did manage to get a reply back from NTL who merely repeated the instructions we were following anyway!

Re: setting up another E mail account/address
Firstly to CF
You may find that the address takes a little while to set up.....
However, if you've been waiting two years
Are you specifying the correct user name and password for the new account you've setup?
Have you tried emailing it from any other account than the ones that you have on your PC? In other words, have you asked someone else to check it from their machine (happy to do that if you want to PM me the address, please don't post it in the forum though ).

No server error Port Secure ssl. We are using NTL dial up on windows XP. According to our package we can have up to 12 e mail accounts. We cant even set up ONE additional E mail. Please can any one suggest what might be the problem. Thankyou

Have you actually set up the new address on the NTL server or just in outlook express,to set one up with NTL go to www.ntlworld.com on the lower right click on your e.mail options log in and follow instructions on adding extra e.mail accounts.

Re: setting up another E mail account/address
Until we got Broadband Medic I could never set up my own account so made do with Hotmail and Yahoo as these are valid with any ISP.
Have you tried setting up the account using Medic?

Re: setting up another E mail account/address
I know this won't help (or at least it might not) but I had exactly this situation about 6 months ago with a friend.
No matter what I did they just couldn't send me an email, I tried everything. All of my settings, went through all of their settings - spent about a week trying to sort it.
In the end it turned out to be a typo..... They'd typed my address in wrong and then saved it to their address book. Every time they tried to email me they were sending it to an address that didn't exist.
It's a long shot but it might be worth trying, check their spelling and also check the spelling on the NTL accounts page where you set the email address up.
If you want a seperate test from an independent party feel free to send me a PM with the email address and I'll try sending one from here for you.
Can you send emails ok from the new address?

Re: setting up another E mail account/address
it may be worth giving tech support a call..... it may be that you have succesfully created the new email address... but on NTL's sytem (sabs) it could be in a 'create failed' state

Re: setting up another E mail account/address
Thanks for all the help. We did contact tech support some time ago about this problem but didnt really seem to get a good enough answer. Guess we will have to try again sometime. In the mean time we set up a Yahoo e mail for my husband in minutes and he has been sending and receiving in his own right now for weeks.

Re: setting up another E mail account/address
I had exactly the same problem and I was tearing my hair out trying to resolve it. I must have looked at the OE settings a thousand times and was convinced that they were correct. In addition I could access the account via ntl webmail. I eventually phoned technical who again took me through all the settings. Believe it or not I had got one wrong; instead of typing pop.ntlworld in the servers box I'd typed pop3.ntlworld
I'm not saying that this is the answer in your case but the moral is check and check again what you've typed!
Incidentally I got through immediately to ntl technical and a guy called Steve was most helpful.

Re: setting up another E mail account/address
I have seen situations where sometimes the only solution is to just delete the accounts in outlook express and then recreate them
