Have FTP'd index.htm to NTL webspace ok, but when entering URL goes to NTL

I'm working for a client who has ntl business web space. They registered a domain name with ntl who have supposedly connected it to the correct web space. I've managed to ftp an index.htm to the correct space but when you enter the correct url in the browser, it just goes the ntl ecommerce site, no index to be seen.

I called ntl and in short they haven't got a bloody clue what they're doing.

Any ideas?

have you put it to the original sites address, or the domain name?
you may have to upload the site to the original site, and then the domain will access the original, thats all I can think of.

not sure what you mean. There was no 'original site'. She bought web space from ntl, and they said she could buy her domain name from them too, which she did. As I understand it they should have set up the domain name to refer to her own webspace. It would appear that this is not the case though, as when you type in her domain name, it just goes to an ntl holding page.

How long ago did they register the domain?

Are there any other files in the root of the webspace?
If not, sounds to me like the domain hasn't been fully activated and linked yet.

Re: Have FTP'd index.htm to NTL webspace ok, but when entering URL goes to NTL

I wonder if there is a 'structure' to the domain - on my hosted domain i usually ftp files into the public_html folder, rather than the root?

Just wondered if it is something simlilar on an NTL hosted domain (although it might not be called public_html)
