Web Speed display on Mac - SLOW and NTL related

I have 2MB Broadband from NTL which is running at 2MB as downloads speed is great.

I do have an issue with displaying web sites though, there always seems to be a delay before the page displays which is not present on my Mother Mac mini.

I find this very strange as I have am iMac G5 and her Mac mini is only a G4. I have a 2MB broadband connection and hers is only 512KB, but she seems to display pages much quicker than me.

Are there any specific DNS entries or search domains I need to have set up in my preferences?

Any other help would be gratefully received.

Ian

Hi,

Try downloading SafariSpeed 1.2.1 from www.versiontracker.com
Safari has a 'built in delay' which this tweek fixes!
Also, it would be good to do a safari 'reset'. (although you will lose cookies etc..).

Hope this helps.

Paul

try using firefox instead of safari... i find it to be faster and there are some tweaks that you can do to improve browsing.

A lot depends on your network settings which may be more appropriate for NTL broadband on your mothers system than yours are, particularly the RWIN size. Have a look at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...ps/tweaks.html
