sending and recieving emails

I have a problem with ntl web mail, I can send e-mails to portugal but when my friend sends emails back she gets an error message drom ntl saying it cant be delivered.
sometimes the emails come through and she still gets a message to say it was not delivered.
anyone have any clues as to what may be wrong?

Re: sending and recieving emails

no idea what could be wrong, sorry - it could be your friends smtp server that is the problem, rather than NTL ?

Couple of things to try - set up another mailbox & see if you get the same problem with a different addy, or set up forwarding to an external account, such as hotmail, or gmail - and see if the problem still occurs

http://www.ntlworld.com/help/your_ac...ail_manage.php

is the place to go to set it up

Re: sending and recieving emails

Further to my problems yesterday, I can send an e-mail to portugal and it arrives within 5mins(I phoned to check if it had arrived). E-mail sent back at 8pm last night still hasent arrived.
Checked every thing suggested so far including unistalling McAfee security centre.
Now at a complete loss as to what to do next.

Re: sending and recieving emails

I would get a new email account until this one is sorted Having a Gmail or Hotmail account as backup is always handy.
Have you actually got anything in your ntlworld email inbox/ outbox/sent items at the moment that could be causing a snag? It could just be your friend is finding out how unreliable NTL email can be.

Re: sending and recieving emails

I have been recieving emails form other sources.
I thought gmail was by invitation only for the present?

It is
PM me with a working email address and I'll invite you. Are you sure that the problem isn't at the other end of the equation if you are receiving emails from other sources?
