I think you need to ask, what would an audiophile buy for playing songs off his ipod in the kitchen or bedroom? He already has his mega-expensive separates system in the lounge, but what about playing some music in the kitchen while cooking or washing the dishes? You don't put an expensive separates system in the kitchen, you put something compact in there. I think Apple is saying that if you are looking for something of that kind, the iPod HiFi is at the top of the range.
