Post Tv S Above Fire????

Hi all,.....i m just after a few opinons.
Today i was asked by a customer(who had just bought a 32" plasma) if it would be ok for them to mount their new t.v on the wall,ABOVE THEIR FIRE????(this was a central focal point in the room).
Rather than give mis-leading info i said quite simply,"i dont know!?"
But now its bugging me(im one of those people that needs answers).
Obviously "heat rises",but this is where im unsure it would be a good/bad idea. The fire in question, stuck out a fair bit further than the(realitively flat)plasma and also there was a fire surround fitted to the wall.
When i checked how much heat was right where the tv was to be placed, there was hardly any(and the fire was on full!).I could only feel the rising heat when i moved my hand out a good few inches??????
Any suggestion and feed back would be greatley appreciated,
Thanx in advance!
