Have you powered the modem down, power the PCs and router down, plug the modem into the WAN port, plug a PC into LAN port 1, power up the modem, wait for lights to lock/ settle, power up the router, wait for lights to lock/ settle, power up the PC and access the router config page?
Rich, you HAVE to have the modem plugged into the WAN port for it to share the connection, if not then you will only get the situation you are in now.
