Are these XP home ?

If so, there could be a couple of problems.

1. You may have to give both accounts a password (which obviously will need to be the same).

2. When you connect from one pc to the other you may need to specify the username as [destination-pc-name]\[username] - as I'm not sure that XP home supports NT passthrough authentication (meaning that simply being logged into both with the same username and password may not work).
