This is what I mean - I was familiar with 'Midnight Hour' and 'Ride Sally Ride', but I couldn't have told you who recorded them. They were just the sort of song that's part of the fabric of life, you just know them.

And, while I'm no expert on the genre, I agree with you. When you compare 'Soul (original)' with 'Soul (modern)', give me the original any day.
