Help with interference on BT Vision?

Hey guys, thanks so much for reading this post, I have a couple of questions to ask you.

Peds cause a lot of glitches whilst watching freeview, any ideas to prevent peds from disrupting the signal. I use standard powerline adapters and BT homehub.

I heard that I can use satellite coaxle cable designed for satellite to connect to my BT Vision, is this possible? Cheap? And how do I achieve this?

Thanks guys.

Regards

Re: Help with interference on BT Vision?

Mikey, peds are basically bikes, which we have here in the UK, there loud, noisy and a pain. They are typically smaller in size compared to standard motor bikes. I hope I have helped.

Insufficient suppression on the moped's ignition coil causing broadband RF emissions which are then picked up on the coax feeding the TV.

Something called a "braid breaker" may help. A couple of snap on ferrite rings around the coax may also do the trick.

Re: Help with interference on BT Vision?

Older points ignition can interfere as it's basically a spark transmitter which doesn't have the same built in suppression as found on more modern systems.

A simple TVI filter (blocks anything below 100Mhz) will do or a choke as described by JonT

Re: Help with interference on BT Vision?

@Jon T

How do i install "braid breaker" (is there a site to show this) and where would you recommend buying them?

Also as my freeview cable is underground running into my home would a "Braid breaker" help this aswell, because it looks like i can only install this in my home and not outside .

@Kymmy
Fantastic another way to prevent this, which way is easy and cheap "Braid breaker" or "TVI filter" << where do these go/be installed?

Cheers guys for your posts most appreciated.

Best regards

Re: Help with interference on BT Vision?

TVI filters were originally designed to go between the antenna/coax and your TV.. In this digital age it would go between a antenna/coax and the digibox (as close to the digibox as possible.) You can buy them from Maplins, any CB/radio shop and most antenna installers.. as well as ebay

Re: Help with interference on BT Vision?

Fantastic stuff guys,

After researching i probably will go for the TVI Filter at £11 Maplins.

Last question,

Can i use a Satellite cable to connect to my aerial to my BT Vision? would this work?
At the moment i am using a standard Co-axle cable.

Thanks in advance.
Regards
