Orange 3G lies
Don't be fooled by the latest Orange 3G ad's about Orange offering the widest 3G coverage.
I have recently bought an iphone3GS and was on Orange, across several areas across London, No more than 3 bars of 3G coverage and for 90% of the time, Orange 2G was in operation. It also kept going back and forth from 3G to 2G and the internet speed is slooow.
Inserted my 3 sim in the phone and its brilliant, 3G coverage everywhere and guess what, it's strong!
I think Orange should be investigated under grounds of mis-leading advertising as clearly they are not the largest and won't be for a few years.

Re: Orange 3G lies
I think you should be investigated as every other post you do is about how great 3 is and how bad other mobile companies, particularly Orange are.

Re: Orange 3G lies
Well i'm sorry, its false advertising, saying they have the best 3G coverage when overall its not, Its like when Virgin Media said there internet was literally 100% fibre optic when its clearly not and they had to remove some there ads.
O2 and Vodafone 3G are worse they cover around 60% of the UK,however,I haven't had much experience of there 3G service apart from one time when I used my friends phone on Vodafone,it had one bar.
One thing though, you don't see O2 airing misleading advertisements, everything is clear and quite honest, if it costs £15, it says so, none of this £7 for the first 3 months then such an amount thereafter in microscopic writing.

Re: Orange 3G lies
I have a broadband "dongle" with Three and it's a bag of old cack! Even in inner city areas it barely reaches dialup speed, that's if it connects at all.

Re: Orange 3G lies
Lets see, Orange Vs. Three. Yup, looks like Orange network is bigger, so your claims about "false advertising" is a load of testicles

Orange-Bigger customer base-Yes
Smaller 3G coverage- Yes
Orange measure there 3G coverage by claiming that they place a 3G mast in every town, village and city, even if it's just one, thats not enough to cover a whole area, ofcom states that the largest is Hutchison 3G, however when the merger is complete between 3 and T-Mobile's infrastructure, T-Mobile will also be the largest.

Ok heres how it works, Orange and T-Mobile are merging there actual businesses in the UK, they will merge there 2G network infrastructure eventually.
T-Mobile and 3 have created a joint venture called MBNL which is now in charge of the 3G masts operated by T-Mobile and 3, therefore T-Mobile and 3 are merging there 3G infrastructure and will both offer same level of service. Those on Virgin Mobile will also experience the same level since it is powered by T-Mobile.
Orange 3G sites will be merged into MBNL once T-Mobile and Orange are merged completely and will be done in the next few years, to avoid high running costs, uneccessary Orange 3G masts would be decommisioned where not needed.
By then, 3,Orange,T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile customers will all have the same level of 3G service and as 3 uses the Orange 2G network for 2G services, 3,Orange,T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile customers will have the same level of 2G network coverage.
Its wouldn't be possible for any of the above mentioned operators to offer less 3G coverage than another in one particular area since the network coverage would be offered by the same masts. All that should be completed by 2015, 3,Orange,T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile should then look at phasing out 2G handsets and services as 3G would be almost reaching 100% of the UK.
O2 and Vodafone have a long way to catch up, I would be suprised if they cover 95% of the UK with 3G coverage by 2020. Don't understand why they are so slow at it, they have plenty of money and Vodafone has been round the longest, you'd think they would be the market leaders!
