Skype
Best 3G coverage
High Internet speeds

Are some of the benefits of using the Iphone on 3.
Its available on the 3 network in Hong Kong,Denmark,Sweeden and in Austrailia.

Re: Iphone on 3 UK
I dont see why not. Consumer choice and all that.
I'm on o2 myself, but dont see a problem with the iPhone coming to every network

Re: Iphone on 3 UK
you can get iphone on 3, just call them up when you want to upgrade or cancel your contract, tell them you want an iphone and they will give you one.

I heard T-Mobile was doing something like that to retain high spending customers. Do you know anyone who has got an Iphone from 3 in the UK?

my friend recently got one from them because he told them he wanted to cancel his contract, they asked why and he said because he wanted an iPhone, so they offered him an iPhone.
£37 per month on Mix & Match 1100 + unlimited internet + unlimited 3 to 3 + unlimited texts but 24 month contract

I really can't see this, not that I am calling you a liar just abit strange for a compnay to do this, as word of mouth would spread and we would have heard this before now.

Re: Iphone on 3 UK
The thing is, I heard a rumour that there is a problem with the Skype mobile application with it being incompatible with the current service that Skype offers to 3 and to 3 handsets at the moment, thats probably why its not available on the UK network.
Italy is another, even though 3 has around 7.5 Million customers in Italy. In the UK 3 has around 3.5 million subscribers and holds around 37% of the UK market.

Re: Iphone on 3 UK
Ok guys, just noticed this thread and thought id let u know of my experience....
Had been with 3 for 3 years on mix and match 1100 and when it was time to renew (2 months ago) I rang up and selected the "thinking of leaving 3" option and was put through to their customer retention department (which is based in India).
I was immediately offered the Sony Erriccson W995 for £18 a month, a drastic reduction from the £30 qouted on their online upgrades page. However, my brother works for BMI who have a corporate deal with o2 allowing him to get 30% off any o2 contract (including iphones) with "o2 open" so i said no thankyou and that i would like to cancel my contract.
At this point I was immediately offered an iphone. When i asked how they were able to provide it i was told that they buy them sim free and provide them to high end customers many of whom are leaving because they yearn the iphone that only o2 ond orange can provide.
Anyway, so I eventually accepted and now have an iphone on 3 mix and match 1100 for £19 a month (+ £5 a month for unlimited internet) so £24 month all told - on an 18 month contract. I think it is worth mentioning the o2 open discount as i went through the calculations with them and they matched that discount (ie. 30% off 02 £34 a month contract = £24 a month) although i believe the o2 open discount may have recently changed. This is the bottom of the market price for an iphone.
The phone works absoulutely fine. There is no difference between having it on 3 or on any other network. All apps and functions work perfectly, as does skype (although not provided through 3 but by a free official app) Furthermore the 3 3g network is much better than o2, and faster when comparing to my brothers o2 iphone.
Also worth mentioning 3 allow you to upgrade from an 18 month contract after 14 months, sooner than any other network. All in all I am very happy with my decision to take it on 3 and my shiny new iphone. Hope this has been helpful to you guys and one piece of advice for anyone dealing with three (or any other network): DONT EVER upgrade through the upgrade department. They will give you a deal that a new customer would get but with a nominal "loyalty bonus". ALWAYS ring up the customer retentions department, as they will immediately offer you a much better deal, that the upgrades people are unable to offer. Say you want to leave and they will immediately start offering you stuff, believe me they REALLY do not want you to leave!
Cheers,
AXL

Re: Iphone on 3 UK
no it was a 3g, although i believe they may have a few 3gs's. From what I understand each member of retention staff is given 5 iphones a week to give to stop customers leaving. When I asked "do you have any 3gs's. Yes or No" about ten times he said he had to speak to his manager and put me on hold for about 5 minutes. when he came back he said no they didnt have any which seems to me like they probably do, but only for high spending customers

you are calling me a liar. 3 offer customers iPhones to keep customers, if you or anyone you know on 3 are coming up to the end of their contract, give them a call and tell them you are leaving because you want the iPhone, see what happens.

Re: Iphone on 3 UK
Actually they do after speaking with a 3 store employee today. They are from the Danish and Hong Kong side of the business.
It costs 3 very little to transfer them, Hutchison Whampoa have there own shipping service for transfering there goods from China to Europe and base some of there UK operations in the British Virgin islands to avoid high VAT rates.
Thats also what Virgin Media does with its premium content,it trades them through Virgin Media entertainment which is based in Luxemburg, where the VAT rate is only 3% where as here, it is has now gone back to 17.5%.

Re: Iphone on 3 UK
They only give 8GB 3G's at the moment, although they will be offering the 16GB/32GB soon.
