Question BT Broadband Talk

Ok, so we have taken this as part of the Deal that we are getting, trouble is I don't really understand it. All I know is we have been given a second telephone number and a password, but other than that Im at a loss. We are getting the latest homehub with the phone as well. Could somebody kindly explain what this is about as I don't understand

Re: BT Broadband Talk

Wayne did you look at the BT site for information? Basically the second number is a VOIP number.

BT Broadband Talk
Broadband Talk is like an extra phone line with its own phone number – it just sends calls using your BT Broadband connection instead of your existing phone line. Just plug your BT Hub Phone or a touchtone phone into your BT Home Hub or router and away you go. You get unlimited UK* Evening & Weekend calls included in your BT Total Broadband package at no extra cost – or you can upgrade to get Anytime calls instead. Whichever plan you choose Broadband Talk also gives you cheap calls to mobiles or abroad.

You can also use your computer to make calls
Softphone is a piece of software you can download to your PC and use to make calls to anyone over the internet – without the need of a phone. All you need to do is download Softphone on to your PC, get a headset with a microphone and away you go. Softphone available for Broadband Talk customers to download. Softphone uses Voice Over Internet Protocal (VOIP) technology which delivers of voice communications over the internet.
Because Softphone lets you access your Broadband Talk account remotely, you can make Broadband Talk calls anywhere with access to the Internet. Chargeable calls can also be conveniently billed alongside your Broadband Talk account.
