Exclamation URGENT: BT Wiring

Please can someone help us.

We have just changed the wireing from Virgin to BT, however we have found that the wireing in the BT box is not set up so it it just just crackles on the telephone because the wireing is not setup.

I have attached some photos so that any BT or anyone who knows about these things can help.

Re: URGENT: BT Wiring

Tampering with the wiring could cause issues if you mess it up. Why not call BT and complain about a bodeged install? Get it done properly by the tech so that all the onus etc is on BT for the future. Do it yourself and BT can wipe its' hands of you when you next call an engineer out and to be honest the call out fee is not small.
Or is this a DIY extension?

Re: URGENT: BT Wiring

So this isn't a BT installation but actually an extension that needs connecting up to the BT wiring? If that is the case the extension will not be covered by BT anyway so make sure you are careful and follow the wiring guide to the letter. If you don't you can cause issues on your line.

NB the picture on the right is the main BT cable, should just be two cores connected to A and B - you shouldn't be messing with this bit!

The extensions should be connected to the removable lower front - so designed so they can be disconnected leaving just one master test socket the only one connected. The BT master socket is an NTE5, looks quite old make sure those extension connections are electrically clean for your ADSL!
