We regret any inconvenience this may be causing you. We are working with Optus, the service provider, to restore service as soon as possible.

Ah-sorry, it was just that your 1st post implied it was not only the UK, but OZ & NZ too.

Re: All Sky customers lose service!

Whats that Skippy? The service is back?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/03/31/sky_eclipse/

Yup 13 hours laters its been blamed on the solar eclipse causing the satellite to lose power.
Sounds like bovine excrement to me but hey, who am I to doubt the honest and integrity of Rupert Murdoch and his fine organisation(s)

Re: All Sky customers lose service!

Well it read as Yep, just not in the UK but in Oz and New Zealand

If I had put down Yep, not just in the UK but in Oz and New Zealand as well I could understand the confusion.

If the Astra 2 satellite were to fall out of the sky, the Sky feed would be lost, but ntl customers would still get BBC, ITV, etc. as they are recieved at the local headend via DVB-T, and some other channels which are received via Landline (i.e., fibre link)... so they'd get more than Sky customers would!
