Smile Recording from sky planner to vhs cassette tape

have a RD-XV45KB HDD & DVD / Video Cassette Recorder. I recorded something onto my Sky planner and then wanted to record this recording onto a vhs tape on the video recorder but there is not a picture when I press playback.. I tested the recording by recording some of the adverts from the planner but I'm not getting anything when I play back. Are you able to help please.

Re: Recording from sky planner to vhs cassette tape

Sky planner is the facility to record direct from sky and store it until you want to watch it. It is pretty good because you can set it to record a whole series of programmes so that you never miss any.....which I always used to do!

Re: Recording from sky planner to vhs cassette tape

Are you down loading the programmes to your DVD recorder or to your video?

Re: Recording from sky planner to vhs cassette tape

He means he's recorded a programme to the Sky box hard drive and on playback he can't output it to a VHS / DVD.

I think it's copy protected in some way...

Re: Recording from sky planner to vhs cassette tape

Thanks for clearing that up. He can actually download programmes from the planner to his recordable DVD/VCR if that what he wanted to do and was doing something wrong that they were coming out blank once downloaded

Yep, that would be my guess too.

I have recorded a few items from my sky+ to DVD and have never come across the problem. I think it may be only certain items that are copyrighted, movies for example. Then again it may be something to do with the device that is making the recording as in some devices are more susceptible to the DRM that Sky use than others.

I have never tried to record a movie so I'm just guessing. The only things I have recorded to DVD are a couple of Documentaries and a few Concerts.
