TV Aerial Question

We live in a 1-Bed apartment which has 1 x coaxial socket in the living room. As there is only 1 socket we currently have a splitter on the socket and run a lead under the carpets into the bedroom. The problem is, we are having laminate flooring put down this weekend and so running wires would become messy and problematic.

My question is, what is the easiest way to get digital tv reception in the bedroom? Are there booster aerials available that don't need to run from the main socket? If so, can anyone recommend one?

Thanks,

Simon

Re: TV Aerial Question

I have three ideas.

1) Depending on where you live, an indoor aerial might work.
2) Get a Freeview box in the living room (if you haven't already got one), and use a wireless video sender to the bedroom
3) Cut a groove in the floor under the laminate for the existing coax.

Just to add.

4) Get who ever is laying the laminate to run your existing cable either along the edge of the laminate (expantion gap) before they put any edging strip down or if they are removing the skirting board's lay it behind them. Chances are the underlay required underneath the laminate will be thick enough to allow the cable to be run inderneath without it sticking proud and causing issues.

Thanks, I think this is going to be the best option - if I cannot get an indoor aerial that will do the job. I take it these flooring companies won't be adverse to such a request? The sender wouldn't be great as my partner and I couldn't then watch different channels in different rooms I believe.

Re: TV Aerial Question

A sender would limit you to one channel on both TVs, so not ideal if you plan to use both at the same time.

In my experience, home improvement companies are well used to dealing with wires around the place, especially TV wires. When we had our double glazing done, the fitter said the first question he is always asked is if he can change the window frame in the lounge without damaging an incoming aerial/satellite cable.
