where's Channel 5 gone ?
As per my moving house thread i have had to take a Sky tv subscription and am gobsmacked that Sky are not allowed to Broardcast Channel 5 ,they are not even allowed to show the name in the tv listing ,Why is this ? i thought Sky owned most of Ch 5

That seems very strange and certainly should be rectified by CS, there is no reason why it would even be blocked in Northern Ireland never mind Newcastle. Another news company owns Channel 5 though, not BSkyB or News Corp.

nope ,no listing in the epg for any ch five ,no fiver ,no five us ,there is no ch 171 the epg goes from ch 170-172 .All other channels are listed even the sports ones i haven't subscribed to .I will be onto cs asap if it does not rectify itself when the viewing cards come hopefully tomorrow.Strange that the engineer warned us that sky cannot show any ch 5 programs ,it seems he was talking rubbish (i found it hard to believe at the time)

I have a sky sub for all channels minus the sports ...105 says "channel unavailable" the epg jumps from 104-106.I always thought that ch 5 was a terrestrial channel like ch 4,bbc1,itv

Ok ,that explains what the engineer was on about as well ,he said we would not be able to get ch 5 ,he didn't say "untill the cards come" .I'm so used to VM having ch5 on their free channels i assumed that sky would be the same ,the engineer did say that sky where not allowed to broardcast any ch 5 ,he meant as a free channel, thanks that's cleared it up

It is free to view, but not free to air, hence the need for a card.
