Sarky Sale salesman from sky on the doorstep.

Guy comes to the door on a Saturday night, yeah Saturday night! Offering a free upgrade to my Skybox, or old silver one as he referred to it. So I say I’m happy with my Box and As I’m dropping Sky in Dec (not that I told him) I don’t want it.

So all I get is this “ right so you don’t want this brand now Box better Box over your old Silver one”

So I’m trying to be polite, even when he’s appearing to being a small minded fool. So he walks away saying “ enjoy your old box”

So after that I decided end of contract Nov I’m switching to Virgin, so in all a great salesman loosing customers.

I had a sky salesman on my doorstep about a fortnight ago trying to get me to subscribe ,i explained that i was happy with virgin ,he explained that i could get a better broadband service through sky ,i said "no i can get 50mg" he said "not in this area" ,i said you "misunderstand i already get 50mg" he said "are you sure"? ,i said "absolutely i am i know what i pay for ,goodbye"
I don't know if he had been given the wrong information about the area he was to canvass or if he was lost but he was determined i couldn't get 50mg

i gave them a similar story to swivel on the other week, the guy was moaning at me to get sky+ HD, and sky broadband, he was saying its cheaper than virgin etc etc, so i asked him what broadband sky would offer, he said up to 24mb. i said what speed would I be able to get from the 'up to' 24mb broadband, he just said it depends on the distance from the exchange, so I says to him "shall i answer my own question?" he asked why, and i told him "I used to have broadband through the phone line, and the maximum speed i could get here is 3mb, and with virgin media i can get 50, not up to 50, just 50", then he was a bit like "errrr" and i went "thank you, good bye"

My Brother tried to have Sky fitted a few weeks ago but they couldnt complete the installation due to not being able to get a strong enough signal and Sky attempted to then charge him for an installation the engineer could not complete.

I also had a pushy sales women who tried to tell be I will be better of with Sky,started to ramble on about the BB said I could get 50mb through VM and she shot away

there's one who has visited me a couple of times. last time I said to him, "didn't you come here a couple of months ago saying the same thing?"

and he replied yes, but he thought I may be interested now as they can offer cheaper package.

From what he started to say both times I think he just know about TV as that's what he was trying to sell me, just went on about how many more hours of HD recording a Sky plus box could do over V+ box, and how there were more HD channels.

I couldn't be arsed to explain to him about some of the advantages of the V+ TV service, and broadband so told him I wasn't interested and asked him not to come back again.

just out of interest ,do VM have door canvassers because i don't remember ever seeing one

They do have canvassers but I have not seen any around here for a while, they usually have silver astras with Virginmedia on the sides.

Must just be because all our area is cabled ,in fact i think the majority of newcastle is cabled hence i don't see them

No, because they don't like to get into a discussion about STM, and they don't have a database of customers they already have to consult

Probably not something they are trained on, all I would say is check out the relevant page and to download after 2100 to avoid it, nuff said.

only ever had sky people round, they come once a month, ill start answering the door with a kitchen knife in me hand haha
