Do sky still charge to fix signal or box problems ?

My box is saying loss of signal i suspect its the cable going from the dish into the box as it pulled apart, I put it back toghter but nothing it was flickering for a few days and flckered more when you went near the cable.

I'm actual wired for Sky and Virgin cable ( well Virgin sits unused not plugged in as i dropped the service) if they are going to charge I may as well just jump back to Virgin as I'm thinking about going back to there BB later in the year over Be BB through the phone that only gets me 8mb.

So do they charge? I remeber somone saying £70 and thinking well if it goes down I'm not paying if they want me to be a customer.

Just to add they do want £65 so I guess I'm going to cancel it as i had car cost this month and cant afford a hit of even £65.

if you been with them a long enough time the threat to cancel normally gets you a visit. I got a nice HD+ box out of contract and beyond warranty

It's worth remembering that with Sky, they give you the equipment for free, but then it belongs to you, so they have no obligation to repair it out of warranty any more than they are obliged to repair your TV.

As Zing says, they may agree to do it, if you threaten to go to VM, but this will possibly depend on what targets Retentions are working to this month. They may be content to see you go - be prepared to have your bluff called.

I fixed the cable, put the end on right as I think it was a botch from the get go with the install. Now working all ok.

I'm moving to Virgin in Dec as I need better BB and so i may as well drop sky for a V+ as I'm dropping "Be" for the more faster cable.

Careful when they give you 'free equipment' 9 times out of 10 they actually place you in another 12 months contract be careful and listen to what the adviser goes on about it will be worth it in the long term !!

It worked for me when our LNB went bad.

But then if they hadn't have fixed it for free I'd have just cancelled it anyway and either got my housemates to signup (if they still wanted it) or have ordered VM

I suspect it had a lot to do with the fact we're on a fairly high package if not one of the most expensive ones.

They keep offering HD but my Sat cable is burried under the floor somewhere so it will be a right pain in the backside to get a new dual one run in and I don't really want to be stuck in another years contract.
