I Want to move my tv and sky box
Hi all.
We are in the process of moving our lounge around, but it would mean moving the tv and sky box from one end of the room to the other.
My cables are not long enough and also there are 4 cables that cone from outside into my sky box. We have sky + hd.
Can I get extended cables for all 4 cables and is it and easy task?
Many thanks

depending on how far you intend to move it.

Re: I Want to move my tv and sky box
If you have 4 satellite cables connected to your equipment, then you would indeed need 4 of those ... or, alternatively, or 2 of these:

Either way, you need to extend all of the cables that come into your room and disappear into the back of your equipment.

Re: I Want to move my tv and sky box
I have just had another look at the back of my sky box after reserving 4 extension cables. I said previously that I had 4 cables running into the sky box. There are 2 that are aerial in and RF out.
The other 2 are from the dish.
Now im totally confused about wether or not I have ordered the right cables or not as the 2 dish cables screw into the sky box. I have reserved the ones on the Argos site that were suggested!!!! Please help!!!!

Re: I Want to move my tv and sky box
OK - so what you actually have is a standard Sky+ box with TWO feeds from the satellite. These feeds have f-connectors on the end and they screw onto the back of the Sky+ box. The other two cables are for standard free-to-air terrestrial TV - one of them brings signals from your rooftop aerial into the sky box, the other one passes the signals straight back out again to your TV set. To be honest, these days there is nothing you can get through your TV aerial that you can't get via your Sky subscription and you can almost certainly ditch the 'aerial in' and 'RF out' cables altogether.
What you definitely do need is to extend the twin cable from the satellite dish - the one(s) with the f-connectors on them - to the place where you want to move your TV and Sky+ box. You are extending two cables, so you either need two single extension cables of the type you have seen at Argos, or one twin extension cable of the type I linked to on eBay.
Is that any clearer now?

Re: I Want to move my tv and sky box
Ok I think that's clearer. I was just worried that the dish cables have the long metal piece that sticks out of the cable that goes into the box when screwed in. Will the new cables have that bit that sticks in the box? Sorry for sounding like a complete dim wit!!!

Re: I Want to move my tv and sky box
If you buy satellite extension cables with f-connectors on them, then at one end they will look like the sockets on the back of your Sky box so you can screw your existing satellite cables onto them. At the other end they will look exactly like your satellite cables do, so you can screw them onto the back of the Sky box.
