Thanks a lot for that useful piece of information.

Re: Hard Drive & "TV" " USB" Recorder

It appears that the TV USB Recorder uses the File extension "TS" and as said before allows only playback to be on the TV that recorded it. Is there any means by which one can adapt a recording to enable the content to be viewed on a computer or via a Media player to a TV, using AV input.

Re: Hard Drive & "TV" " USB" Recorder

Is the TV a Humax? If so, I have used Humaxrw to read disks from a Humax recorder on a PC. It might work for you. Then again, it may not. Proceed at your own risk.

Edit: noticed the TV is a digitrex, so the above is probably useless.

Thanks Danielf, The USB recordings are fine but only able to view on the small TV, which created them, is a pity but shall keep trying.Maybe someone will have the key. Glad you managed the Humax.

Re: Hard Drive & "TV" " USB" Recorder

If the extension is .ts then what you're getting saved is the Transport Stream, which bundles together the video, different sound channels, subtitles and so on together.

If HDTV Pump I linked to before doesn't work, the alternative if you want to view the video on say your laptop is to strip all the component parts out - called Demuxing - and then combine them back and export in a standard video file format.

It's not as complicated as it sounds and some programs will do the demux in the background anyway so you don't need to worry about it.

Try MPEG Streamclip which is a freebie but pretty easy to use.

Or if you don't mind paying £ Womble DVD Wizard which also is good at editing the video, adding fades and cutouts, that sort of thing. Or Videoredo which is similar.

There are some other free alternatives if those don't work, but they can be tricky to use.
