Re: understanding digisenders

Yes you could use it in another room with the TV turned off, it is taking the output from your freesat box so the TV downstairs doesn't come into the equation.
For changing channels, this depends on the digisender you buy, you need to make sure you get one that has a remote sender. This is normally a little cable/eye that you sit in front of you freesat remote sensor so when you use the remote upstairs it will send the remote signal via the digisender.
Yes you can use two remotes.

Re: understanding digisenders

You don't need to do anything different with the remote, it is basically just passing the signal through the digisender so if you have two remotes both designed for your freesat box they will both work.
In my case I have sky but I have a one for all remote so I use the one for all downstairs and the original sky remote in the bedroom

Re: understanding digisenders

No as long as it is a remote that works with your freesat such as a one for all.

Basically if it controls your freesat when you are in front of it, it will control it via the digisender. The digisender is merely sending what ever signal it receives.
