Error H230

I recently returned from holiday to find that I couldn't receive any terrestial television stations. There was a message on Channels 1-5 which read ERROR H230 and confirmed that Virgin had switched off its analogue signal.

I am not a Virgin customer although after closer investigation I discovered a previous tenant in my flat had subscribed to telewest who I assume were subsequentlly acquired by Virgin.

I removed the plastic Telewest cover to access the cable which connects to the aerial but it has been connected to another socket which I am unable to disconnect.

I am in the market for a new television but would rather bide my time and fix this in the short term.Any advice you can give me to rectify the problem outlined above will be very well received.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Error H230

Hi and welcome to the forum.

For members to better help you simple details like the area which you live in, Do you live in a house/flat/etc.., are there restrictions for antennas?

Then people might know where to start.. As far as VM and analogue yes you are currect in assuming that VM are turning off analogue services.. inline with the bid digital switchover.

Re: Error H230

Hi apologies for the lack of detail.

I live in a flat in Edinburgh. The VM Error message has now disappeared and no reception is received at all.

I am not aware of any restrictions for antennas and I have discussed with some of my neighbours who only have terrestial channels and are not experiencing any problems

Re: Error H230

You will need an external aerial now. All digital services on VM are subscription only.

Re: Error H230

You can get free Virgin TV (M) which is basically the freeview channels if you get a phone line for £11 a month http://allyours.virginmedia.com/webs...ct.do?id=11169

Re: Error H230

Thanks for your help.

I have removed the Telewest/Virgin plastic cover at the socket. The aerial lead from my TV is attached to a small adaptor/interconnector (by pin connection). The interconnector is further connected to a pin which retracts into the wall. I suppose my question is how do I connect my TV to the external aerial? This will have been thsituation before Virgin/telwest changed the connection. Other fklats in my block are still connected to the external aerial receiving basic channels. Should I just call an engineer?
