Firstly a little bit more information would be helpful.

Are you a sky customer and how have they taken money without permission? Was it a larger than usual bill or something else?

Re: abuse by sky

Obviously one way of guaranteed reimbursement would be an indemnity claim..from my experience, though, this will only act as a temporary fix as they will still then chase you to pay that money by an alternate method.

You'd be best off calling their customer services team and asking them to go through the bill with you, explaining word for word why this has happened.

Try to stay rational at the moment, because any knee jerk decisions that you make could affect your credit rating etc

Re: abuse by sky

If it is a legitimate error on Sky's behalf then the bank may waive any charges associated with going overdrawn

Re: abuse by sky

If it's a Direct Debit and Sky have taken out money without prior notification then just ring up your bank, tell them that's it's an unauthorised DD and you want them to claim it back..

Re: abuse by sky

I know everyone else has said it, but I'd suggest first and foremost you speak to Sky. It's not in their interest to rip anyone off in the way you describe, so chances are it is a a mistake (either on their part or yours). You will need to talk to them to get them to investigate what has happened.

If you truly believe you have been ripped off, I would suggest you contact your local Citizen's Advice Bureau. You can look up your local branch (and some advice on common problems) at http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/

Bear in mind, however, they are a charity. As such, the hours the branches are open are sometimes limited, so you may need to take a day off work to see them.

I can heartily recommend the CAB because they sorted out a problem I'd been having with Npower for months. Even if CAB can't help you with the payment, they may be able to suggest somewhere you can get the complaint resolved.

CAB may, however, insist that you talk to Sky first.

to the forums, by the way.

Re: abuse by sky

Stuart,

Even if Sky had made a mistake all they'll do is credit the account, at least with going through the unauthorised DD they'll be able to claim back the overdrawn bank charges..

All Sky will do is add the reclaimed amount to thier next bill and any charges for failed DD with them can then be negated by the "It's your own fault" conversation

Sky have the power to cut people off from posting on this forum?

It's no wonder so many Pro-Sky comments appear.
