BSkyB: FTA Sports events is 'a tax on sport'.

BSkyB has attacked the government's review of the so-called "crown jewels" sporting events reserved for free-to-air television, arguing the policy acts as a "tax on sport" that subsidises terrestrial broadcasters.

Re: BSkyB: FTA Sports events is 'a tax on sport'.

An argument that could only be forwarded by an organisation lacking any sense of social responsibility.

And they own 18% of ITV

Re: BSkyB: FTA Sports events is 'a tax on sport'.

Surely the fact that they bung everything they buy the rights to on various PPV or Premium channels is more of a "tax" on sports...

Quote:
Sky believes sports governing bodies should be allowed to make their own decisions to maximise the value of their TV rights, free of political interference.
Note, there is no mention of the fans (you know, the people who directly or indirectly *pay* for the sports).

Re: BSkyB: FTA Sports events is 'a tax on sport'.

Only a pay tv provider such as sky could make that argument!! from their point of view anything that cannot be bought and charged for is a bad thing and to hell with people who may not be able to fund a subscription, and might be able to watch it fta.

O another point i see the boss of bt vision has quit blaming skys dominence of the premier league for his frustrations, and the fact ofcom do not want to regulate sky effectively.
