Sky subscription question.

I have a full sky subscription, getting all available channels. Sky have recently informed me that they will be issuing me with a replacement card, as they do at regular intervals. ...My question is thus.. If i give my old card to a friend will he be able to use it in his sky box? The other person has a sky box, but only gets freesat at present. Will my card work in his box? If yes, for how long?

Card will die as soon as the new ones are out in the field in use.
