Decent IPTV company?

With Virgin offering 50MB BB, IPTV could really take off

Sky Player is intersting, but not fully fledged yet

Is there any company offering full TV through Broadband?

Im also confused as to why VM still roll out landlines, why are they not delivering VOIP? this would save the customer and VM money and even a 2MB line is fast enough....

Re: Decent IPTV company?

a) QoS?

b) there would still be a cost to ring non-VOiP numbers.

Re: Decent IPTV company?

Would you really want to rely on VoIP in an emergency?

Until it becomes as reliable as POTS then both Virgin and BT will continue to install them

That takes me back.

We used to say POTS supplies the base revenue, PANS brings the customers in.......

(POTS - Plain Old Telephony System

PANS - Pretty Amazing New Stuff)

QoS - quality of service of the voice call - prioritisation over data would have to be in place

Still have call costs to outside VM land lines.

What's in it for the customer, that they can't get from Skype/etc at the moment?

Agreed - not a lot in it for the customer. From my point of view VOIP is great, i use vonage and when i go abroad, i take by box and can stay in touch for free - i still have a local bristol code in America

I have a media centre in my lounge, and i like the thought of having my TV running through it which is where IPTV would be good for me

The only real alt is to use a slingbox which doesnt keep the same quality as the source.

I would love VM to support Cablecard like in the US but that doesnt seem like it will ever happen
