Setanta Loose Monday Night Matches

Sky have won back the Monday night matches from 2010 (to 2013).

Means they've got 80% of games.

League Two is where it's at anyway

Re: Setanta Loose Monday Night Matches

It's a doubled edged sword as far as Sky goes i think.

On the one hand, lots of raitings and advertising money, on the other hand it just shows there "dominance" in the sport and film TV market which may get them slapped by Ofcom when the review comes round.... Virgin and Red button, HD etc...

Or am i waffling a load of shiiiite?

Re: Setanta Loose Monday Night Matches

I suppose it's rather mixed. XL virgin viewers get Setanta for free so it's bad in that respect, however the picture quality on setanta is so bad I often wish someone other than setanta got the rights, even sky.

Re: Setanta Loose Monday Night Matches

I think this is totally wrong, Sky cannot be allowed to dominate the screens like this.

---------- Post added at 17:49 ---------- Previous post was at 17:44 ----------

Does this mean, that there won't be anymore Premier League games live on Setanta.

There's still the 6th package of 23 games that $ky can't win. It'll go to Setanta or possibly ESPN.

Setanta were in existance before it won EPL rights. It has some good sports contracts outwith football. It will survive.

I hope setanta don't win it. Nothing personal and shooting ourselves in the foot but setanta just can't run a decent channel for toffee - their picture quality is dire.

I've never had a problem with the picture quality. I subscribed to it before it came free with XL for the SPL and enjoy the boxing, golf and club channels.

I don't fancy ESPN getting it as they seem to go down the route of studio based commentators for Soccer, and they talk of offense and players making a goal. AAARGH.

Re: sky wins 5 of 6 epl football packages

Sky, should not be allowed to dominate football like this, there is only one package left, and there are two companies about ESPN and Setanta, and it will be sad if they don't get it.

But l have a sneaky feeling, it will go to Sky, l cannor believe, Sky has paid over a staggering £1.000million for the football rights, it is like they are trying to kill off the opposition, l suppose the good benefit is, Cable viewers can get Sky sports.

If l was the guy who runs Setanta, l would try and get the football from the Carling Cup, and more FA Cup games.

VM doesn't get ESPN though? So that could also be problematic.

$ky can't get it. Euro competition law prevents then getting it.

Setanta have won the 6th package.

From BBC report Sky V Setanta

The broadcasters have each won one of the two remaining packages of UK broadcast rights for 2010 to 2013.

Perhaps a status quo will encourage Setanta to launch a HD channel in the next couple of years. I'm not very hopeful though.
